Its built-in toroidal sensor eliminates the inconvenience of installing a stand-alone current transformer. Includes onboard adjustments for current sensing mode, trip point, and trip delay. Detects over or undercurrent events like locked rotor, loss of load, an open heater or lamp load, or proves an operation is taking place or has ended. Overall, the ECS Series of single-phase AC current sensors can help detect faults in machinery and prevent damaging equipment. Operation Input voltage must be supplied at all times for proper operation. When a fault is sensed throughout the trip delay, the output relay is energized. When the current returns to the normal run condition or zero, the output and the delay are reset. If a fault is sensed and then corrected before the trip delay is completed, the relay will not energize, and the trip delay is reset to zero. Adjustment Using the mode selection switch, set the desired function, UNDER or OVER current sensing. Pass the wire carrying the current to be monitored through the toroid sensor. Now set the TRIP POINT and TRIP DELAY to their approximate settings. Before connecting the output to the control circuitry, apply power to the ECS and the monitored load. Fine-tune the TRIP POINT by turning the adjustment and watching the LED. The LED will light, indicating a fault. Turn slightly in the opposite direction until the LED is off. This adjustment can be done while connecting to the control circuitry if the TRIP DELAY is set at maximum. When a fault is sensed (LED on) throughout the TRIP DELAY, the output will energize after the delay is complete. When the current returns to normal run condition, the output, and the delay are reset. If a fault is sensed (LED on) and then corrected (LED off) before the TRIP DELAY is completed, the relay will not energize, and the TRIP DELAY is reset to zero. When power is first applied to terminals 1 and 2, a sensing delay on startup occurs. During this time delay, over and undercurrent faults will be displayed by the LED, but the output relay will not be energized. The sensing delay on startup prevents nuisance tripping caused by inrush that normally occurs during equipment startup. If a fault is still sensed at the end of the startup delay, a TRIP DELAY begins. If a fault is still sensed at the end of the TRIP DELAY the output relay is energized.
